Viagra

Viagra (sildenafil) is a potent anti-impotence medicine recommended to patients of different age groups and efficient in most cases. It works by interfering with the process of blood flowing to the tissues of the penis and helps the patient taking it keep the erection for longer than usual. Even though Viagra is very well tolerated with just a few side effects experienced, you need to remember that this is a serious medication that should be taken with caution. If you have ever been allergic to any of the ingredients this drug contains (and besides sildenafil a tablet of Viagra may contain several other inactive ingredients) do not take Viagra without first talking to your doctor, as serious reactions are possible, including difficulty breathing, hives, rash, trouble swallowing and selling of your face and limbs. In case you get an allergic reaction and have any of the symptoms mentioned above seek emergency medical assistance and tell the doctor that you have taken Viagra. Another serious side effect that may happen, although it is quite rare, is priapism. Priapism is a condition that can be described as a prolonged and painful erection (lasting for longer than 4 hours) that can be very dangerous as it can cause damage to the tissues of the penis. Priapism needs to be reported as soon as possible. It may result from the patient taking too much of Viagra at once or may be contributed to by other health conditions the patients has and did not tell his doctor about. Taking more of Viagra will not make the treatment more efficient and can even cause overdose symptoms, such as chest pain, fainting, nausea, lightheadedness, and irregular heartbeat. If you think the dose you have been prescribed is not working properly for you, do not increase it based on your own perception – discuss this step with your health care provider to make sure all the factors that may affect your treatment are taken into consideration.
